Jenkins defines 5 types of convergence:
Technological Convergence: the digitisation of all media content.
Economic Convergence: the horizontal integration of the entertainment industry, in particular the concept of transmedia.
Social or Organic Convergence: the way consumers’ of media employ multitasking strategies for navigating the new information environment, usually occurring cognitively.
Cultural Convergence: new forms of creativity at the intersections of various media technologies, industries and consumers. This encompasses the idea of 'prosumers' and user generated content, as well as particpatory culture.
Global Convergence: the cultural hybridity that results from the international circulation of media content, includes the concept of a 'global citizen'.
